There are various English sentences when there is any problem after startup self-checking, these sentences are of great importance for us solving the computer problems. The sentences below are the explanations of some common ones, just for .
1.CMOS battery failed
Explanation: It means that CMOS battery is nearly out of power, and you can just change a new battery.
2.CMOS check sum error－Defaults loaded
Explanation: Generally it means the battery is out of power, you can try to change a battery, if this does not work out, then it can be the problem of CMOS RAM which means it needs to be repaired.
3.Keyboard Error or no keyboard present
Explanation: check the keyboard linking to see if it is loose or broken.
4.Press ESC to skip memory test
Explanation: Because you did not set to jump the second, third and fourth test of memory in CMOS, when you start up the computer, the computer will execute the fourth memory testing. Of course, you can also jump the memory by pressing ESC key, but it is boring do it every time. To simplify this, you can get to the COMS setup, and choose BIOS FEATURS SETUP, then change the “Quick Power On Self Test” to “Enabled”, then save it and restart the computer.
5.Hard disk install failure
Explanation: It means that the hardware’s power wire or data wire did not connect well, or the hardware’s wire jumper are not set properly. You can check the wires of the hardware to see if the wire jumper on the same data wire of the two hardware are the same, if it is, you can just set them differently.(one can be set as Master, and another is Slave.)
6.Secondary slave hard fail
Explanation: It may be caused by false setting of CMOS, e.g. if there is no Slave but in CMOS setting there is Slave, then the false appears. Solution: you can get into the CMOS setting----choose “IDE HDD AUTO DETECTION” to start hardware automatic surveillance. It also can be another case, which is, the hardware’s power wire or data wire did not connect well, or the hardware’s wire jumper are not set properly
7.Floppy Disk(s) fail or Floppy Disk(s) fail(80) or Floppy Disk(s) fail(40)
Explanation: System informs that it can not find FD, you can check if it is the FD’s power wire or data wire problem; or you can try the FD on another computer, if both of these still do not work out, then you have to buy a new one.
8.Hard disk(s) diagnosis fail
Explanation: It means that the hardware crashed, you can try the hardware on another computer, if it does not work out, then you can formatting the hardware, and mask off the broken area.
9.Memory test fail
Explanation: if you come up with this problem, you can pull the memory bank out and insert it again, and to see if it works out. This kind of problem is usually caused by incompatible memory bank or wrong memory data Bus, you’d better change another brand of suitable memory bank.
10.Override enable－Defaults loaded
Explanation: generally speaking, it is because of false setting in COMS. You can get into COMS setting, and choose LOAD SETUP DEFAULTS, then recover the default setting of COMS.
11.Press TAB to show POST screen
Explanation: some OEM manufacturers like to use their own designed display picture to replace the pre-set startup display picture of BIOS, then we can switch the pictures by pressing TAB key.
12.Resuming from disk，Press TAB to show POST screen
Explanation: it is because that the BOIS of the motherboard provides “Suspend to disk” functionality, if we turn off the computer by using “Suspend to disk”, then the next time when you turn on the computer, it would appear such notice.
13.Hareware Monitor found an error，enter POWER MANAGEMENT SETUP for details，Press F1 to continue，DEL to enter SETUP
Explanation: some motherboard have the capability of hardware monitoring functionality, it can set motherboard and CPU temperature monitoring, output voltage monitoring of voltage regulator, and fan revolving speed monitoring. If there is any abnormal situation of the above mentioned monitoring function when you start up the computer, this sentence would appear. To handle this, you can get into COMS setting, and choose POWER MANAGEMENT SETUP, then check “Fan Monitor, the rmal Monitor & Voltage Monitor”respectively to see who is responsible for the fault, then solve it.
