The police bureau intends to realize the installation of camera on the total of 13,000 buses, tourist buses and long-distance buses in Shenzhen city. The reporter watched the whole process of electronic monitoring system on No.111 public bus yesterday. There are three cameras altogether, and all have infrared function. And there five alarming devices, once there is any case, the steward and passengers can press the panic bottom, then the alarm will make a sound and glittering. After the alarm, the bus situation, the site image and the bus location will be transmitted to the commend post of public transportation branch office of public security bureau, and the police will handle the situation in time. Meanwhile, the alarming bus’s four emergency lights will keep glittering to warn the surrounding patrolling police to come to the scene of the incident urgently. On the upper right part of the driver seat is a color display which can clearly show the pictures of the bus which is in the monitoring area of the cameras.
According to Liuyi’s introduce, we find that the city government will invest 25 million Yuan RMB in the first stage of installation expense, and the rest 15 million to 20 million will be covered by the enterprises. In the first stage, more than 2000 public buses of the Bus Group will install the electronic monitoring system, mainly focus is in the special zone, especially on the lines which are under great public security pressure, such as No.111, No.35 etc.. The next move of this kind of system will be extended taxies and trucks etc..
About the issue of “privacy infringement ”the citizens concerned, Liuyi said that public bus belongs to public resource, what the cameras shoot is the pictures of the public places, which means it does not get involved in privacy infringement problem. If there is any picture taken as evidence, the police bureau will keep the citizens involved secret.
The police remind the citizens of public resource protection and not to press the alarm system for fun. If there is any baleful alarming, the police will call to account on the basis of real situation. In addition, there is not only electronic eyes which the passengers can notice on the bus, but also some shady ones which can deter the criminals from law breaking.
